We are not movie critics. We have no formal film education. We don’t work in the film industry.
So who are we? We are avid movie goers who are fed up with Hollywood. We don’t hate the city nor do we hate movies. Rather, we hate the factory of Hollywood…that steaming, chugging, whirring machine that spits out movies in shrink-wrapped, sugar-coated, and multi-colored packages. We are sick of movies that are heavily deficient in originality, passion, and intelligence.
That is the Hollywood that we hate. In the words of Howard Beale, “We’re as mad as hell, and we’re not going to take this anymore!”
Paul is the founder and senior editor of We Hate Hollywood. While his bread and butter is the IT field (currently network security for a large international company), his heart is in writing and film. For years, he wrote his own movie reviews to a large email distribution list, his own website, and then for an online/print publication for about a year. Also for roughly a year, he wrote film and DVD Reviews for Relevant Magazine. For most of his life, Paul has been an avid cinephile and has become increasingly annoyed with trends he sees in Hollywood, resulting in the sacrifice of taste and intellect for the pursuit of the dollar. Fundamentally, he has no problem with the business side of film but wants to see more filmmakers with vision.
What I hate most about Hollywood - Complete lack of originality as evidenced by the alarming number of movies based on Saturday Night Live sketches, TV shows, video games, and toys. Not to mention the deluge of pointless remakes.

John is the webmaster. He is also a former co-worker with Paul and became friends by common interests. He is originally from Hong Kong and spent his childhood living around a major film company. He loves anything high-tech and enjoys building websites especially this one. John is very passionate about movies; he enjoys a good western and misses all classic war titles. John’s frustrated with these Asian cross overs with “Flying Actors and Hidden Wires” aka “Wire Fu”.
What I hate most about Hollywood - The endless stereotypes of characters created that often lack respect for their ethnicity.
